In a next post, I estimate the number of prostitutes based on nationalities in each of these places. The third post shows the total number of prostitutes for each nationality in Singapore. Throughout the posts, a prostitute is defined as a woman who offer sexual intercourse for money at least once and intends to do so again. The first appearance of street buskers in Geylang, last night brought out an enthusiastic crowd behind the camera and across the street. The talented PRC man in white sang with a karaoke set while his equally skilful companion in blue performed an exotic folk dance. Later, an eccentric old Ang Moh handed his can of beer to someone and joined in. A police car cruised by.Geylang continues to evolve because of the presence of hookers. Will it become even more exciting and cultural in future? Since the prostitutes came, businesses have boomed. May the arts follow!

These girls are mostly found in odd number lorongs.4. Even number lorongs and the dark back lanes are packed tight with girls and their customers unlike odd number lorongs. Most non-Chinese girls operate here although they are also in the odd no lorongs ; hence there are many more non-Chinese prostitutes than thought of. 5. Vietnamese girls in Geylang dominate the main road of Geylang from Lor 6 to Paya Lebar Road and the brightly lit back lanes parallel to it and inside the numerous pubs. Hence, my suspicion that they may be the most in absolute numbers.6. Other than the 5 major groups, prostitutes of other nationalities are not included because their numbers are too small. Hats off to Rraymond (if you are the original author) for coming up with such a comprehensive report which contains not only solid data, but also convincing methodology! This sets the bar very high for my next research paper

It is easier to contract STDs and AIDS from sex with acquaintances than with prostitutes. This is because one tends to be mindful of the need to be careful and to use condoms with prostitutes unlike the carelessness and abandon one has during sex with an acquaintance.
Prostitutes provide an essential service ; often, it is not only sexual release but also the companionship that she offers. One famous writer has written that if not for a prostitute, he would have gone mad after his divorce.
And, once again I say that prostitutes have been driven underground by society's holier than thou attitude. Prostitutes don't cheat - unlike co_ck teasers. (They give what they promised). They don't break up families - unlike girlfriends. In fact, they help hold families together, help keep sodomy and bestiality at bay, help prevent lechery and help prevent rapes.
Prostitutes are direct and more honest than most people. In this sense, lawyers are worse than prostitutes. Many categories of priestigious and highly paid professionals are worse than prostitutes. And everyone now knows that fat cat bankers are worse than prostitutes.
She walks towards the streets. Each face holds
Signs of death and marks of woe
Bored with life, sapped by regrets.
She must do it or she is dead.
She will promise, happiness her ware
Ward off remarks and piercing stares
Risk her life and hope for the best
Tonight she has no time for hypocrisy.
She knows someone who wanted to be rich.
But she wishes she need not do it.
Yet she cannot tell of her sacrifice
For those who will curse her and pretend they never met.
